Basketball Season is now in session. The basketball teams began their first scrimmage against Upson Lee High School.

“We are prepared because we’ve been practicing since October,” #4 La’Trevia Jones (11) said.

With their last season behind them going 2-20, they plan on starting fresh, with five new players on Varsity, and four of them being freshmen. The seniors on the team, #10 Diamonique Rockwell (12), #12 To’Nyiah Edney (12), and #13 Kate Tabor (12) plan to try a different approach from last year.

“I’ve been talking to my team about being prepared and getting our mind right before a game,” Rockwell said. “ Last year, we didn’t have enough structure, so we weren’t focused for the game.”

The four freshman on the team are Erica Irby (9), Monique Judge (9), Cayla Boyd (9), and Jordan Perkins (9).

“We have been playing with each other for four years, from Volleyball to Basketball,” Judge said.

The Lee County Basketball season opener game was on Saturday November 17, where they played Westover.
