Coming back from the first region win against Northside meant that the trojans were ready to take on the Valdosta wildcats.

The wildcats was the only defeat the trojans took last season, and returning players came onto the field ready for redemption.

Running back Shandarious Kimbrough (12) said “We went into that game with the same mindset as any other game, the standard doesn’t change.” He continues, “we don’t like the feeling of losing so we come to work day by day, week in and week out, and that’s important to us as a team because we know what’s on the line.”

The first quarter started with the wildcats kicking off, and the trojans took it from there.

Only two minutes into the game and #17 Kyle Toole (11) threw the ball 53 yards to #35 James Hopson putting the first touchdown of the night on the scoreboard. With a PAT made by #99 Austin Beaver (11), the trojans were leading 7-0.

The trojans stayed on a roll with a pick six by #7 Chauncey Magwood (10) only ten seconds later making the score 14-0 with PAT.

With Lee’s defense holding strong, and not allowing the opponent to get anywhere near the endzone.  #9 Kimbrough (12) gained the trojans another six points with a one yard rushing touchdown. The score with PAT was 21-0 the trojans continuing to lead.

With only one minute to go in the quarter, #17 Tole passed the ball 18 yards to #7 Magwood for the final touchdown of the quarter. The score going into the second quarter was 28-0, Lee staying in the lead.

The trojans started off strong when only one minute in, #10 Zay Hicks (12) made a nine yard blocked punt return making the score 35-0 with PAT.

The quarter continued on with outstanding plays from the trojans, including #21 Preston Simmons (10) who drove the ball into the endzone scoring the final touchdown of the half making the score 49-0 with PAT.

The second half carried on with another touchdown by #9 Kimbrough making the score 55-0 with PAT, but the wildcats started to gain lead.

With four minutes to go in the third quarter the opponent scored a 30 yard fumble return touchdown. With a score of 56-7, the trojans still leading.

With the final touchdown of the night being led to the end zone by #5 Daveon Sanders (12) making the final score of the night 63-7, Lee County trojans winning against the Valdosta Wildcats for the first time in years.

Wide receiver J.Hopson said, “It felt amazing to beat Valdosta. It wasn’t just about beating them to stay undefeated. It was about beating them for the whole community because they’ve always beaten us before.”

The next game for the trojans is October 26th, hosted on trojan field against Houston County at 7:30pm.

Make sure to wear black in honor of the senior celebrating senior night.
