Casey Neistat is one of the biggest Youtubers to date. With over eight million subscribers and 2.04 trillion views on his channel, it is known to avid filmmakers and creators that Neistat is on the top of his game.

Although most people know Neistat from his Youtube channel, most dedicated fans remember the app and social media platform.

The initial Beme app launched July 17, 2017 by both Neistat and partner Matt Hackett. The app was to eliminate all editing from videos and just immediately post it. The app however didn’t last long because of other video creating competitors such as Snapchat and YouTube. Beme was officially taken off all app stores on January 31, 2017.

On November 28, 2016 CNN acquired startup company Beme. According to The Wall Street Journal the news network acquired the startup because, “the deal will bring the app’s video technology to CNN, it will also allow the news company to tap into Mr.Neistat’s large, young digital audience”.

Although most fans had high expectation when Neistat announced the news on his personal YouTube channel, things did not really seem to change.

In Neistat’s most recent video titled “Moving on from Beme” he says, “Working with CNN has been incredible,” but he continues to say “maybe I struggled more in that environment then I had anticipated”.

Although Beme is still going be thriving through CNN and Neistat is staying on the Beme Youtube as an executive producer, both original creators are stepping away.

“Fans have noticed a change in style and consistency of his videos,” Avid fan of Mr.Neistat, Jim Klein (12) says, “I think that since Casey has left Beme there has been a noticeable change to his content because he has been less stretched with his time so he can focus on Youtube more” Klein continues to say, “with this in mind, his style is improving. The extra time allows him to be more creative and focused on content and it’s really paying off”.

Although Neistat doesn’t know what his next move is business wise, his large audience is anticipating more great videos soon.
