Some would call them nerds, and some would call them geeks, but what they really are is another thing entirely. They are the future of technology, the innovators of a new world. And they are just getting started.

The robotics team is currently building a robot for competition, this is being done by a group people who may be small by group size but they have very good numbers when it comes to brain power. A few of these students are Jaymen Davis (12), Sabrina Hagler (11), Emily Turner (11), Cameron Heard (10), Katie Blaise (10), Lanie Hagler (10), and Jacob Hoover (9).

They are building a robot to take to Gainesville, Georgia in March. About thirty teams will compete by playing a newly released game. Before even beginning to build their robot they strategize for a week and determine what the plan will be  and then will build for the following five weeks.

Cameron Heard (10) said that, “It takes a lot of time and dedication. Frequently going afterschool for meetings and going on some weekends to build [the] robot.” He also told us how this will be a good for his future because he,”Plan[s] on becoming a mechanical engineer. I enjoy the thought of all the innovations that could be developed within this field.”

Hagler (11) said that, “Last year was our rookie season, so we had lots of help from other teams and sponsors. Aside from that we did really well at competition. We were top ten at both Dalton and Albany competitions. Now that the rest of the team has experience we can go in confident.”

Hagler (11) also said that the club is, “Not just engineering like you would think. We have people on building, but also social media/ business and promotion.” This cub has something for everyone and is a good option for those students looking for an extracurricular activity, or even something to that will look good on a college application.
