Every year around Christmas, Leesburg hosts an annual Christmas festival. The festival, held on Starksville Avenue North, provides the community a chance to interact with each other and have fun while enjoying local food, arts and crafts, and various activities. The 2017 festival was held last Saturday.

Around a thousand people turned up to this year’s festival. Several shopping stands lined the street stocked with handmade Christmas crafts, sweets, and decorations. For the little children, there was a train ride and a horse riding station.

Several groups from the high school participated in performances at the festival. The high school 2nd period drama group put on a Cinderella play for a crowd, and the 6th through 12th grade chorus members came together to perform Christmas songs.

“I love doing choir performances, so it’s always nice to entertain the crowd,” Said Rachel Ward (10), who was in both the drama group and the chorus performance. “It was awesome especially to do it for an audience that we usually don’t perform for.”

Gracie Van Brackle (10), also a member of the drama group and chorus, got her moment to shine in between the drama and chorus performances. She performed many different songs to acoustic guitar to a cheering crowd.

This years festival was a resounding success for the community and the many high school groups involved.
