Going into the region championships against Coffee County was one of the most highly anticipated games of the season. The Trojan student section came in dressed in full camo ready cheer on their fellow classmates.

With the stands filled to capacity, the game started off strong with a touchdown by Niko Cruz (12) and a field goal by  Austin Beaver (10) with five minutes and fifty five seconds left in the first quarter. Leaving the score at 7-0 to start of the game. Beaver ended the first quarter off with a field goal, leaving the score 10-0.

Coffee County started to fight back and the Trojans weren’t letting up that easy with another field goal by Beaver leaving the score 13-0.However the Coffee County Trojans weren’t letting up that easily, scoring a touchdown with only five seconds left in the second quarter leaving the score 13-7.

Both teams kept the score the same throughout the third quarter, and at halftime it was still 13-7 with Lee County leading.

Coming out of the locker room the boys were set on making the Region Champions title theirs, and Elijah Carnes (12) scored the final touchdown of the night making the score 20-7. The game ended with a final field goal leaving the score at a final 23-7.

After winning such an highly anticipated game, wide receiver Zack Mason (11) said, “We were so excited, because we worked so hard to get to that moment and we finally did it,” he continued saying, “we also knew that if we didn’t win we would have to travel so it felt good to get home field advantage.”

After every big win should be a celebration, but the team is saying very focused. Mason said, “Nobody is satisfied with a 1st or 2nd or 3rd round win. We will celebrate after a state championship.”

First round of state will be hosted at Trojan Field this Friday 10th.
