This year has been full of changes for the Marching Trojans, with a new band director Mr. Ronald Hill (faculty) taking lead the performers weren’t sure what to expect. Color guard captain Lindsey Ethridge (11) said, “I was a little nervous at first, but once I got to know Mr. Hill I knew he really cared about making the band great and about our opinions.”

Not only has the band been practicing since July, but every late night run through has been leading up to this moment.

Although they perform at every football game, there are professional judges watching their every footstep. So this was a very big deal to the band and auxiliary member.

There are three rankings that sections can be scored. Good is a 3, excellent is a 2, and superior is a 1. Superior is the best ranking a section can get.

For the first competition of the year the Marching Trojan Band traveled to Phenix City, Alabama to compete in the Phenix Invitational Marching Festival.

The competed in the 3A class with five other schools and placed second overall. Not only did they place second overall, but received all superior rankings. Dance line received best in class, and color guard placed third overall.
