There are many students in the Lee County School System that have absolutely amazing talents and gifts. Rather it be art, acting, music, sports, or anything out of the ordinary, they do not always get the attention they deserve.

Taylor Gill (12) is a singer/songwriter. ‘“I started singing when I was in eighth grade.” Gill said, “ I started taking singing lessons when I was fourteen and when I was fifteen started piano lessons.”

“Over the course of my freshmen year, I did not do much of singing or vocal lessons because my vocal coach and piano teacher moved away. Then in the beginning of my sophomore year my mom saw an ad online advertising a talent scout named Kim Meyers. I decided to attend the talent scout audition at the Hilton Garden Inn. Within a few hours, I got an email inviting me to go to Orlando, Florida to compete in an international talent competition. There were three rounds in the talent competition. The first round, I was in a room with around 7 people from various countries and different states. I sang in front of the same person who had scouted me and from there the scout and her advisers who would cut people. I made it to the second round. The second round consisted of performing on stage in front of around 19 agents from different organizations such as Disney, The New York Film Academy, and Music Coor. Even though I did not make it to the third round my performance was able to attract several agents attention and also lead to me being awarded a partial scholarship to the New York Film Academy summer program.”

Gill decided to not go to the summer program at the New York Film Academy because she was faced with a hard decision rather focus more on acting or fly to New Jersey where an agent was waiting to sign a contract for her musical career. Although it was a very hard decision for her to make, she chose to pursue her musical career because that was what her passion was.

Gill is now under contract with a cooperation that has to remain anonymous. Gill’s contract ends in November and her music will be released later in the year. Gill a now aspiring singer and songwriter will continue to succeed in her musical career. We wish her the best of luck when it comes to her future as well as the goals she will accomplish in her journey.

Regardless of if Gill becomes famous or not,”I plan on attending GSW and making a successful woman out of myself. If my musical career does not work out as I would like it to, I would like to become a history teacher.”

The best of luck from all of us, keep up the amazing work
