Breanna Weathersby (10) and Hailey Causey (10) are both wearing a type of teddy jacket. The two are big fans of teddy coats. “I like teddy jackets because they are very comfortable,” Weathersby said.

Every season brings fashion and current event trends, and winter is certainly no different. On the fashion front, teddy coats are very popular. The trend started back in 2016, but has only recently gained popularity. The jacket is extremely popular among teens. It started becoming more popular when celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Hailey Bieber started wearing them.

Breanna Weathersby (10) said, “I like teddy jackets because they are very comfortable.”

The next trend is Uggs, a shoe brand. This winter, Uggs are extremely popular, especially among teens. The shoes are made out of sheepskin and fleece on the inside. They gained their popularity in the early 2000s and lost it in the 2010s. But recently, they have made a comeback.

Hailey Causey (10) said, “ I love Uggs. They are the best for cold winter days. They are super comfortable and very cute!”

An international trend is the Coronavirus, a virus that started in China and has recently come over to the United States. The virus comes from a seafood market in Wuhan, China, where animals are traded illegally. So far, over 170 people have died from the virus. Symptoms include coughing, sneezing, runny nose, sore throat and fever.

The NFL season always ends with the Super Bowl, which is a football fan’s final chance to have a big party for the season. Whether watching for the commercials, the food, the halftime show, or the actual game, it should be a good one. This year, the San Francisco 49ers are playing against the Kansas City Chiefs. Performing during halftime are Jenifer Lopez and Shakira.

Sydney Bryan (10) said, “I only watch the Super Bowl for the halftime show.”

No one is trending more right now than pop star Billie Eilish. Coming off of her record-setting night at the Grammys, the artist whose full name is Billie Eilish Pirate Baird O’Connell has taken the music scene by storm. Eilish is a singer/songwriter who released her first song “Ocean Eyes” when she was only 13 years old. She became the youngest person and the first woman to win the four main Grammy categories in 2020.

Just like the Grammys, the Oscars are always a trending topic this time of year. Movie lovers anxiously await the annual ceremony that recognizes the best films and actors of the previous year. This year’s ceremony will be televised live on Sunday February 9 at 9 PM on ABC. The most nominated film this year is “Joker,” the controversial film that has been trending on social media since its release in late 2019.
