The Miss Albany Pageant is a scholarship competition where teens all across Albany compete against girls in their age division. This year it was their 60th year anniversary for the scholarship competition, and Sarah Jane Houston (10) won Miss Albany Most Outstanding Teen. These girls were very excited to represent Albany, and join the pageant family this year.
Jay Houston said about this, “For three years she has wanted this title. Not just for the chance to compete at Miss Georgia, but because she really wanted to represent the city that she loves which is Albany. All of her hard work, persistence and dedication paid off the night she went home with the crown. She is very excited to spend a week competing at the state level with so many of her friends in June, but she is just as thrilled to represent Albany all year long. I may have been sick all week but she handled herself so well, and I could not be more proud.”
S. Houston said, “Representing Albany as Miss Albany’s outstanding teen has always been a dream of mine. Finally winning after three years has taught me that hard work pays off and to never ever give up. I am so excited and I can not believe this dream has finally came true.”
“It was a little intimidating, but I had to remind myself that I worked hard and I deserved to be there just as much as they did. They were all super nice, and I made a lot of new friends. I am so excited to see some of them in June, and make more friends at the Miss Georgia pageant” said S. Houston.
One of S. Houstons biggest supporters Wyatt Wynn(11) said, “Miss Albany was a lot of fun. The day was a rush until the pageant. Getting make up, and hair done before the interview. When we got to the pageant, it was an honor, and relief to see her win Miss Albany’s Most Outstanding Teen. She has done many pageant before, and this was such a major relief. I am so proud of her, and you could tell by her smile that she was proud of herself. I have always seen amazing potential in her, and to finally see that pay off was an honor.”
Miss Albany’s Outstanding Teen is not the only event S. Houston is going for. She will represent Albany for the year, but also in June will head to state and go for Miss Georgia as well.
